Beavers

Age Range: 5¾ years to 8 years

The Beaver Scout Colony programme is fun, flexible and varied. Activities are based on the two year experience of a Beaver scout and each activity being of equal importance.

There are no formal groups of lodges except those set up to suit the occasion. Beaver Scouts can gain five activity badges and three challenge awards within their time in the Colony through taking part in a variety of activities. These awards along with a personal challenge go towards gaining the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award.

There will also be the opportunity for the youngster to attend a Beaver sleep over. This activity is a great experience for Beavers as they get an early taste of camping.

The Link to the Cub Scout Pack is made over a period of four to six weeks during which the youngster will gain their Moving-On Award.

There are 12 Activity Badges that a Beaver can achieve. Some of these badges are: Animal Friend, Creative, Experiment, Explore and Faith.

The Challenge Awards are: Promise, Fitness, Creative, Global, Friendship and Outdoor. If a Beaver complete all six of these awards they will gain the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award
