Group Information

The 27th Woolwich Scout Group is one of fifteen groups within the Scout District of Woolwich, and is part of the Greater London South County. The group was originally formed by three members of the Wesley Hall Methodist Church congregation in 1930.

The Group has very strong links with Wesley Hall and is happy to show that support in many ways, for example: Fund Raising (The Christmas Market and Spring BBQ), Celebration (Carol Service, Mothering Sunday, Church and Sunday School anniversaries), Work Days (general help in maintenance, decorating and refurbishment of the church grounds once or twice a year) and last but not least, in the act of worship at our monthly Church Parade service.

There are four sections at the 27th Woolwich, they are: the Beaver Scout Colony, the Cub Scout Pack, the Scout Troop, and the Explorer Scout Unit.

All of the sections are fully mixed, thus making the 27th Woolwich able to provide a wide ranging programme of activities for boys and girls from the ages of 5¾ to 18.

The 27th Woolwich currently has a total group membership of around one hundred people, including the leadership team. The leadership team are all volunteers. They have all been trained to Scout Association standards, and have all completed CRB disclosures, and work tirelessly to provide a balanced programme of activities for all of the members of the group.

We also strive to enhance the scouting experience for all of our members by participating in competitions & events organised by the District, and Nights Away experiences.
